Another official photo of the National Day Gala showing Pierre Casiraghi to the far left, 19 November 2013
Is it just me or does it seem that Pierre Casiraghi is playing a more prominent role than his older brother as a Grimaldi heir? I mean, here we have Caroline and Pierre supporting the Prince and Princess. According to the line of succession, we’d expect it to be Andrea and Caroline. Andrea was in Monaco that day, he was at the service. But he was conspicuously absent from the “balcony” appearance and the performance. I saw the girls at CasiraghiTrio (C3) blog suggest this was because he had to rush home to his son, to prepare his son for dinner or something. But I’m like, OK…… Caroline’s next of kin had to rush off and miss two rather prominent chucks of the day’s events to, what, change a diaper or whatever? Like they have “people” for that? Come on. You can say, “Well, he’s a hands on, Dad,” ok, sure, but there are 365 days in a year to play hands on Dad. I think the hands on Dad can attend a concert and balcony appearance one day a year.
OK, I’m not obsessing over it. Really, I’m not! I don’t actually care either way. I’m just making an observation that it seems like Pierre is playing the more prominent representational role and I find it interesting.
Actually, after watching the mass a couple more times, I really think Andrea may not have been feeling well. He seemed very anxious for the service to be over and even looked as if he would be sick right then and there (specifically when communion came around!). I’m 99% sure that he was/is under the weather, which would easily explain his absence from both events (and Tatiana’s).
You can can part of what I’m talking about in the last photo here. After the communion passed, he covered his face for a second and seemed to wipe a little sweat from it.
